Clonakilty man gets top post in Cobh Branch of O.N.E.

The Annual General Meeting of the Cobh Branch O.N.E. at which there was a good attendance, took place in the Commodore Hotel Cobh on Thursday January 15th. 2015.

Branch Chairman, Tim Mc Cormack welcomed everyone and wished them a very happy New Year. He thanked the committee members for their work during the past year.

Outing Branch President, Peter Byrne , in his address, said it was an honour to have represented the branch at the various ceremonies during 2014.

Branch Secretary, Michael Mc Carthy, in his very thorough report gave a detailed account of branch activities for the past year.

Branch Treasurer, Edmond Mc Carthy’s report showed the branch was in a healthy financial condition.

Election of officers for the coming year resulted as follows: President, Fredrick Crudge; Chairman, Timothy Mc Cormack; Secretary, Michael Mc Carthy; Treasurer, Edmond Mc Carthy; Ceremonial Officer, John Walsh; P.R.O., Domhnall Mac Cárthaigh; Vice Chairman, Domhnall Mac Cárthaigh; Assistant Secretary, Patrick Feen; Assistant Treasurer, Séamus Nolan.

The New Branch President, Fredrick Crudge, comes from Clonakilty in West Cork, not far from the famous Drombeg Stone Circle and Fulachta Fia. He joined the Naval Service in 1966, retiring in 1997 with the rank of C/P/O. Mechnician. He served in Lebanon with the 76th. Inf. Battn. Fredrick is married to Breda, they have six children; Regina, Michael, Elizabeth,David, Paul, and Brian.
