Live Register falls again in Cobh

The Live Register has fallen once again in Cobh with a significant 14.1% drop recorded in December 2014 compared to the same in 2011, the year the Government took office.

“The plan of the Government since taking office in 2011 was to get Ireland back to work,” said Minister Sean Sherlock.

“It has been my objective to get Cobh back to work also and to regenerate the Harbour area. The recovery must take hold further in people’s homes so that they can feel the fruits of the fastest growing economy in Europe. The Cork regional economy is improving week on week with the 2014 new jobs figures being particularly healthy. We must not rest on our laurels however, as there are still far many on the Live Register looking for work.”

“Comparing the same time period, this Government has overseen a significant drop in the Live Register figures. I will, for my part, continue to work with Government agencies such as the Department of Social Protection on the job training schemes and with the IDA on plans to attract jobs to this region.”
