Cobh Community hospital is delighted to have held a “ground breaking ceremony” to commence construction of our new day room development on the site of the old dispensary and clinic.
It was a founding ambition of our group to provide such a purpose built dining and recreation room for residents, patients and visitors to socialise and enjoy.
The Friends Group have harnessed the good will of the wider community over the past years and are immediately providing in the region of €250k towards this project, while still hoping to maintain our existing support of the residents activities and hospital. It is estimated to cost €340k to complete and fit out, the balance of which we shall strive to achieve with your help.
We have also in the last six years fundraised and spent an additional €190k in the purchase of essential goods and support.
We also remain ever hopeful that some recognition of the tremendous local generosity will be provided in the form of grant aid from central Government funds.
This is also the 30th year of our Christmas day sponsored swim which has increased enormously in popularity over the years. In excess of a hundred swimmers take part and hundreds of spectators come along for support.
Thank you and a Happy Christmas to all.
Friends of Cobh Hospital.
