fotahouse111On Friday, 11th July, Fota House will present “Summer Serenade” at 8 p.m.

This promises to be an evening of enchanting music in the beautiful Drawing Room of Fota House featuring Eimear Collins, Soprano, Deborah Desmond, Mezzo Soprano, Dan Twomey, Tenor, and up and coming young performers Lauri Power (violin) and Anna Forde (spoken word) who will be accompanied on piano by Orlaith Tyrrell. Also featured are The Arianne Singers, a group formed by Anne Anderson. The music for this event is chosen to fit the Drawing Room atmosphere of yesteryear.

Betty Moloney has produced Summer Serenade annually since 1984. The first of these concerts was held at Fota House in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Cork, the late Liam Burke, who was so impressed that he requested a return performance to celebrate Cork 800 in 1985.

Since then the concerts have been held at various venues with great success.

The Group, led by Betty Moloney has been invited to return to Fota House again this summer having had sell out concerts there for the last two years.

Eimear Collins who began her vocal training with Aine Nic Ghabhann is a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Both Deborah Desmond, a versatile mezzo soprano and Dan Twomey, Tenor, winner of a bursary at the recent Feile an tSamhraidh, are well known and popular performers at Fota House . The programme has been compiled by Betty Moloney who will also accompany the singers and she hopes that the wide variety of styles will appeal once again to those who grace the Drawing Room at Fota House.

As is customary at Fota House, a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink will be served at the Interval.

Tickets: €20.00
