chipCORK HARBOUR ISLANDS PROJECT (C.H.I.P.) EXHIBITION COBH (QUEENSTOWN) DURING WORLD WAR 1

2014 is the Centenary year of the beginning of World War 1 and in this regard Cork Harbour Islands Project will be holding their next Exhibition in September on ?Cobh (Queenstown) during World War 1?. The Exhibition will feature on the effect of the war on the lives of the townspeople, particularly on a personal level with so many locals fighting in the war, some never to return. The town also featured strongly on the world scene with the sinking of the ?Lusitania? in 1915 and the subsequent entering into the war of the USA and their Navy who had a base in Queenstown.

We are therefore seeking any photographs (copied and returned), stories, memorabilia etc of local townspeople who participated in the war or any other information of life in Cobh at that time 1914-1918. If you had a family member who fought please let us know any details. Any information would be much appreciated.
