Strand United (2) v Springfield Ramblers (2)

The defence of Alex Capn Kirk, Jake Terry Kennedy, David Beckham Julius and Charlie Maldini O’Regan confidently dealt with any threat, typified by the Zlatan style bicycle kick clearance of Kirk, when under no real pressure.

A sweet 9 iron chip by Ben The Postman Kennedy from deep rough was smashed to the net Danny Alves Julius arriving like a steam train into the box giving us a first half lead.

In the second half, the home team but our heroes rallied and a mesmerising move involving Paul Messi Murphy, Sam Nasri Kennedy, Darragh Ozil Regan and Josh Griffiniesta ended with swashbuckling centre forward Sultan Aguero Adebayo making it two goals from two games.

In the dying minutes, the home team equalised despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Ronan Casillas O’Connor and in a nail biting finish the home side were awarded a penalty kick. Strand went on to miss the penalty and the lads got the result they deserved.

The Auntie Nellies sponsored man of the match was Daniel Alves Julius and he received his everlasting gob stopper from Capn Kirk.

Umbro 13 Division 5

Springfield Ramblers B  (3)v Riverstown A (3)

A good win for the young side which they dominated throughout. The game started with Springfield on the front foot and creating several chances. Riverstown defended in numbers and were proving hard to break down but with some fine passing moves Springfield finally got ahead after 15mins with a goal from Brad Stapleton. Springfield pushed for a second but it was a break away by Riverstown that made the game level. This made Springfield even more determined and a fine individual run and goal from Ger Devlin restored the lead within a minute. Two quick long range strikes by Evan O’Leary and another by Brad Stapleton made in 5-1 at half time.  Brad scored another two goals early in the second half to almost kill of the game off. Riverstown did manage to pull two goals back but Springfield finished deserved winners. A lot of good performances special mention to Ger Devlin, Rowland Nsubuga and Brad Stapleton. Cian Donnachie was Man of the Match with a display of excellent passing in the midfield.

Thanks to all the supporters who turned out in great numbers on the night.

SAT APR 12

Umbro 11 Division 3

Springfield Ramblers A (0) v Douglas Hall A (6)

In their latest adventure the young Rams took on the minions of Douglas Hall at fortress Pat O’Brien park.

The fair play rotational system was put to good effect again with Daniel Agger O’Sullivan, Maximus Gladiator Devlin, Eoin Keano Curry and Evan Maradona Doody drafted in to entertain the sell out crowd this week.

Despite a great start by the home side and in particular Darragh Ozil Regan, Paul Messi Murphy and Charlie Coutinho Regan, the sheer numbers of minions on the opposing team caused us problems and we trailed 3 nil at the break.

After the break the boys left everything on the pitch in scenes reminiscent of Custers last stand. Heroically we managed to hold the score to 6 nil in the end.

So another defiant show of courage and skill from our heroes. And the Auntie Nellies sponsored man of the match was Coutinho Regan and he was presented with his everlasting gob stopper by superb captain Daniel Alves Julius.

Springfield Ramblers continued their run with a well-deserved win in Mallow. Garan Manley dominated the midfield area and displayed excellent passing skills. Springfield Ramblers took the lead with an excellent passing movement and a fine finish by Adam Horgan. With Adam O Sullivan dominating the home defence Mallow were reduced to long range efforts. Springfield Ramblers failed to add to their tally in the second half despite creating numerous chances. When Mallow did threaten the excellent Dave Coffey deal with the threat.

Best on the day Garan Manley and Adam O Sullivan
