Carrigaline United A (7) v Springfield Ramblers A(1)
The young Rams had their first taste of midweek European football last Thursday where they took on Carrigaline Utd at Swiss venue Novartis. But it was sobering experience for our young lads as we were completely outclassed in a 7 – 1 rout. The management take full responsibility as many players were sea sick are the ferry crossing. Next time we fly!

The highlight of the game was a magnificent solo effort goal by Sultan ‘Aguero’ Adebayo who took possession of the ball on the half way line and Ricky Villa’d his way past half the Carrigaline team before blasting into the bottom corner past a hapless keeper.

The Auntie Nellies sponsored man of the match was goalkeeper Ronan O’Connor who had a very sore back by the end of this one.

So it was a long journey home for all concerned but every great team has to handle these little wobbles on their way to greatness and this bunch are no exception…..

Umbro 13 Division 2
Watergrasshill United (1) v Springfield Ramblers A (3)
Springers totally dominated this game from the off creating chance after chance but just could not hit the net. Lewis Whealan in midfield controlled this game at his ease probing the Watergrasshill defence time after time with some brilliant through balls for his strikers. On a rare attack forward the home side got a free kick outside the box, they hit the bar and the Watergrasshill forwards were first to react and they were one up against the run of play. Springers hit back hitting the bar and the post and missed loads of other chances. They were one down at half time. The second half was the same as the first, only this time Springers took their chances through Brian Danaj and Emmanuel O Neal. The highlight of the night was the third goal which was scored by Jamie Kelly who lobbed the keeper from just inside the opposition half (Rooney style). This crowned a magnificent squad performance from all who were there on the night.

Umbro 13 Division 5
Springfield Ramblers B (1) v Fermoy (6)
In a match played in atrocious conditions the result did not do justice to a very good performance by the young Springfield team. Up against a very good Fermoy team the game began evenly enough with good football from both sides. However two errors in two minutes were punished to give Fermoy a 2-0 lead after ten minutes. Springfield however fought back and good passing move was ended with a fine volley from Alex O’Mahoney. Springfield kept pressing and were unlucky to be still a goal down at the break.
As conditions worsened in the second half an OG and a penalty to Fermoy made it a real uphill battle. Springfield could not repeat the great first half performance but had several chances to get another goal including a header off the post from Evan O’Leary. Two more late goals from Fermoy gave a slightly unfair look to the score line. A lot of good performances but special mention to Killian O’Connell, Josh Kelly, Evan O’Leary and best on the day Marc Jones.
Thanks to all the supports who cheered the lads on in dreadful conditions.

Umbro 12 Division 5
Corinthian Boys B (2) v Springfield Ramblers B (3)
A hard fought win against a good Corinthians side which saw springfield ramblerss take the lead twice through Emmet Duvan and John Breen with Jordan Doyle scoring the 3rd and winning goal. A very good overall team performance, with a man of the match performance by Ben Barrett who kept us in the game with some outstanding saves. Best on day Emmet Duvan, John Breen,Jack Hallahan and Jordan Dunphy.
