Cobh U16 Camogie started off the 2014 season with a Challenge at home V Sars on Saturday 8th March. Despite very little skills training done.
Due to the poor weather the match was very competitive with both teams displaying good skill levels and team work. Cobh started off well with most of the possession early on and with some good passing movements created a number of scoring opportunities. However the Sars defence and Goalkeeper were in good form and held firm. Late in the half Sars came more into the game and created two chances both of which they took to lead at Halt time by 2 goals. Cobh were quick out of the blocks in the second half and scored a great goal following a solo and good finish by Megan Foley . Cobh continued to have a lot of the possession but were finding it difficult to finish off some good moves. Sars on the other hand were able to get scores and added a goal and 2 points before Cobh’s next goal from the boot of Katelyn Quinlan from close range to complete a good move.
The Game finished Sars 4 – 2 v Cobh 2-0. The cobh girls should be happy with their performance, they played well throughout and both their teamwork and skills very evident. Others to impress for Cobh were Sorcha McKeown, Emma Moran, Ellen & Laura Stafford.
Cobh Team. C Thompson, E Moran, S Mckeown, A Farrell, E Stafford, M Foley Capt, S Maher, A Douglas, A O Connor, J McCarthy, O Damery, A Bardsley, L Stafford, K Quinlann, T Butler, E Farrell, A Histon, O McCarthy & C Walsh.
