Haulbowline Theatre Group – Thespians Do It On STage

Up to about 18 years ago ten-minute plays served as a platform for new playwrights starting out in the business. In the USA, these plays proved to be quite popular and they started being produced on a wide scale. A whole new genre was born. There is now a multitude of ten-minute play festivals, not only in the USA but all over the world.
 
In recent years, 10-minute plays have proven to be a legitimate form of theatre that is highly popular with audiences around the world. And is it any wonder? The form forces playwrights to get the story moving quickly and keep the dramatic action tight, it lets actors showcase their talents by playing multiple roles, and it allows audiences to enjoy a broad spectrum of theatre in one sitting.

Three years ago, Haulbowline Theatre Group ran a very successful production of ten 10-minute plays and is now returning this season with a brand new production under the title of THESPIANS DO IT ON STAGE for 4 nights from Thursday March 27th to Sunday March 30th. Also included in the evening’s entertainment are the recently reformed The Infestations, a musical group who will provide music between the ten performances. These plays, by American, Irish and English writers, vary from a wry view of modern life, to social drama, to the zany and downright crazy. Based on the success of the previous 10 x 10 minute production, we hope it will be well anticipated by Haulbowline audiences and perhaps bring in an audience who may not yet have visited Haulbowline theatre

Haulbowline will be introducing lots of new and young talent to the stage for this production having received a great response to the recent auditions.
