In what was a hard fought encounter, like so many between the two teams over the past number of seasons, Cobh gained a measure of consolation from exiting the championship to the same opposition last week. Cobh started the brighter with two unanswered points from Katie Sheehan before Charleville hit back to narrow the gap. Chloe Smith rattled the Charleville net with a superb ground stroke and a pointed free from Erica Field left Cobh five points ahead at half-time.

The second half saw a huge battle with every ball hard fought and every score hard to come by. Charleville began to get a foothold in their half-back line and Cobh struggled to get the ball into their inside forwards. As a result the gap was narrowed before a questionable 21m free resulted in a goal that left Cobh ahead by the bare minumum. Cobh managed to widen the gap only for it to be brought back not long after. The final five minutes was mostly played in and around the Cobh back line but some incredible defending and bodies being put on the line kept the north cork team at bay.

The final score of the game, a point from Katie Sheehan, widened the gap enough to leave Charleville requiring a green flag but the Cobh defence held firm until the final whistle was blown. A great team performance all round. Well done girls! Captain aoife Hart accepted the cup from Marian Mc Carthy Cork County Board.

Thank you to all our supporters and thanks again to our main sponsor Ruth of Beauty Chambers. a special thank you to Supermacs who generously sponsored the food for the team on the night to help celebrate the win.
