Ramblers v Tralee Dynamos – St.Colman’s Park – Sat 17th – 7.45pm

Cobh Ramblers’ Senior side play their first home game of the year this Saturday against Tralee Dynamos in the Newstalk Cup at St.Colman’s Park (Kick-off 7.45pm) and if last seasons games against the same opposition are anything to go by then we’re all in for a cracker of a game. In May of last year Ramblers lost 1-0 at home to a strong Tralee side and were beaten 3-1 away to the same opposition in September. Taking into consideration that the average age of last years side was about 17, with some of the team playing U17, U18 and Seniors in one year, the dismal six points tallied at the end of the season shouldn’t by any account be frowned upon. Manager Dave Hill has had the side back in training for the past two months and is raring to go when the Newstalk A Championship League starts for real on May 23rd.

Undoubtedly this season, the Ramblers players and Supporters, will be looking for promotion back into the League Of Ireland proper for the 2011 season and realistically speaking this is very achievable. Hill has more or less the same squad as last season but has his eye on one or two others whom he hopes to bring in during the summer. With glorious sunshine expected for the weekend, it’s widely hoped that Cobh people will turn out to cheer on their side.
