U12 football v St Catherine’s – Monday 29th March. We won our first home game 3-8 to 1-2. Overall we dominated the game at midfield and half back line. We scored a goal in the first minute but found it difficult to score more in first half despite having great possession. Half time score was 1-3 to no score. Second half was much better, 3 points in 5 first minutes, and a total of 2-5 in the second half in poor conditions underfoot. There were strong possession winning performances by David Coffey and Jeffrey McCarthy. At the back, tight marking and good reading of the game by Pádi Kearney, Barry Chandler and Jack O’Brien meant St Catherine’s rarely threatened to score. Up front the scoring was lead by Seán Hilliard and Neil Harte, and Niall Spriggs from midfield.
The under 12 training sessions are proving to be very well attended with approx 30 players attending each Monday/Friday. 22 players have been involved in the first two games, with the selectors working to ensure that they have a program which allows all those attending training to participate in the games.
