Car parking:
Most important to note is that THERE IS A TRIATHLON ON THE SAME DAY! This means due to their slightly earlier start that car parking will be very difficult. So either take the train or arrive early. The main car park for us is the five foot way car park. See the map attachment for directions. There are other car parks in Cobh but these are further away. You will not be able to park by the Heritage centre as that is part of the run course. The alternative car parks are by the catherdral or by Keatings Londis by Cluain Ard estate (off Norwood). Take the train, then you will not hit the cycle course of the triathlon on the R624 (the main road in) when you are leaving.

Timetable:
10:00 – 10:30 registration (Niall O Crualaoich’s car and it should be outside the heritage centre) and goodie bag collection
10:30 Briefing at race registration
10:45 Safety craft briefing
11:00 Ferry to Island. (the ferry is ten minutes walk away and it will be leaving on time) At the Quay by the titanic pier.
11:20- 11:30 Swim start
One hour cut off for swim (this is to reopen shipping asap)
Post swim cuppa and prize giving (race briefing will announce where)

If you are in a wetsuit or togs, you can inform us at registration. Also we have insurance so we do not require Triathlon or Swim Ireland membership cards. The water is colder this year than previous year so if you haven’t been in the sea or you have not done the distance by now, then it is too late, contact us and we will make some other arrangements.

Straight after the race briefing and photo we will be heading to the ferry. Please be ready. We will have limited space in the safety boats for clothing so if wetsuit swimmers can restrict themselves to footwear and tog swimmers to one other article of clothing we will endeavour to reunite you with the stuff at the prize giving.

The ferry will take you to the island and the air horn (or prison alarm) will start the race. There will be a triathlon swim on but they are landing elsewhere. DO NOT FOLLOW them. We recommend you swim to just behind Haulbowline and then make a beeline straight for the Heritage Centre, usually there is two blue tugs parked up so aim for between them. All will be explained at the race briefing.

There will be safety boats and kayaks around you so if you are in difficulty then please raise your hand and attract their attention.

You must attend the race briefing to swim. If you decide for any reason after picking up your race number not to swim then you must inform me or the registration. This is so we don’t launch a search and rescue operation. My phone will be the safety phone should you need anything or need to inform me of anything.
