On Friday 26th March at 8 p.m. Fota House will host an evening of mid-eighteenth century music associated with the court of Frederick 11, King of Prussia.  Performed by local musicians, Aoife O’Donovan, Baroque Flute and James Taylor, Harpsichord, “Les Idées Heureuses” reflects the diversity and changing musical tastes of the period with works by the ever popular Telemann, Quartz, John Sebastian Bach and his son C.P.E Bach.

Frederick the Great was a generous patron of the arts and a gifted musician.  Some of his own music is also included in the programme.

This is a unique opportunity to hear this early music played in the elegant drawing room of Fota House.

Aoife O’Donovan is a final year Masters student at the C.I.T. School of Music.  An accomplished player of the modern flute, she performs this concert on the baroque flute.  James Taylor (Harpsichord) is a member of the baroque ensemble Beyond the Pale and is well known to Cork audiences as Director of Madrigal 75.

As is usual, at Fota House, a complimentary glass of wine will be served at the interval.
