Queen Victoria arrives Monday 11th April 10.00 am

On Monday 11th April there will be a number of interesting photo opportunities in Cobh.

The first Cruise liner of the season, the Queen Victoria with 2000 passengers and over 1000 crew will be at the quayside. On board the Queen Victoria will be the 2010 Cobh People’s Regatta Queen Jessica Burke. Jessica is working in the Health and Beauty Spa onboard the Queen Victoria for a number of months and is looking forward to seeing her family and friends for the day. At the request of Cobh Tourism she will be at the Annie Moore Statue at 10 am in an Evening Gown complete with sash and tiara to promote the 2011 Cobh Regatta that will be held from 12th – 14th August 2011.  Cobh Tourism Ambassadors will be on the streets of Cobh welcoming and greeting visitors and giving invaluable local information from April 11th 2011. Over fifty people of all ages have committed 2 hours a week of their time and signed up to be volunteer Ambassadors.

The Ambassadors, instantly recognisable in their bright green vests emblazoned with a large “Ask Me?” will provide a warm welcome for visitors, provide reliable information and convey a pride in all of our town’s history, traditions and achievements. Apart from being roving tourist guides that will be able to provide tourists with invaluable local information on things to see and do, guided tours to partake in, attractions to visit, places to eat, drink and shop in, they will also take the time to chat to visitors and provide the welcome and friendliness that Ireland and indeed Cobh is renowned for.

Ambassadors have received training for the role and will work each shift in pairs on a totally voluntary basis. Ambassadors will also be in the vicinity of the Annie Moore Statue on Monday at 10 am.
