Springfield Ramblers 5 Carrigaline Hibs 1
This was a great result for the Cobh lads with a great team effort from all the lads. We started well and scored early with Glen Kavanagh scoring the first after he beat the offside trap to finish well. Aidan O’Rourke scored the second after collecting the ball inside the area turned and shot past the advancing keeper. Hibs scored against the run of play but glen then scored with a great header before he completed his hat trick after a great through ball from Adam Rasmussen. Rasmussen himself completed the rout with a great free kick from outside the area which flew past the keeper. Overall a good result with Luke Doyle ,Ricky Parker and Ronan Horgan doing well throughout.

Springfield Ramblers 3 Cherry Orchard 4
An excellent team performance by Springfield Ramblers was spoiled by some very poor refereeing which cost the home team the game. In a very entertaining game both teams produced highly skilful performances from start to finish. Cherry Orchard took the lead after 20 minutes when their right winger struck a powerful shot into the roof of the net. The home team driven on by the excellent Adam Horgan and Sean Hillard created some great chances only to be denied by Cherry Orchards excellent keeper. With about 5 minutes to go to half time Calvin Murphy levelled for the home side when he finished an Adam O Sullivan free kick to the net.
With the teams level at half time the second half proved as exciting as the first with the visitors denied by the highly impressive Dave Coffey in home team’s goal. With the game going from end to end Adam Horgan cut through the visitors defence to score an excellent individual goal. As the game entered the last five minutes of normal time the visitors were gifted an equaliser by the officials when a Cherry Orchard player who was clearly offside was allowed to score.
As normal time failed to separate the sides we were treated to extra time where both sides continued to play excellent football. The visitors again took the lead early into extra time but
the home side were again undone by a poor referee who failed to award a penalty when Horgan was fouled in the penalty area. As Springfield Ramblers pressed for an equaliser; the visitors scored a fourth goal on the break. Great credit must be given to the home team who never gave up and scored a third when Adam O Sullivan scored a penalty awarded for hand ball.
Both teams and their coaches must be congratulated for the excellent football their teams played and the standard of performance shown by the players. The great pity was that the performance of the referee and his officials was below what one would expect at this level of a national competition.
