Fair-trade Fortnight has just finished and was celebrated by Cobh YMCA’s PAKT groups during the week of the 28th February. Each year the YMCA and PAKT take the opportunity to invite families of the group to join with their children in having fun and learning about fair trade goods.

The kids of PAKT enjoyed two afternoons of Limbo Dancing and music, taste testing fair-trade Chocolate which proved to be very popular, and the kids and their parents were put into groups of 3 and a very easy quiz was held with the winning group winning a bar of Fair-trade Chocolate each. On the Monday the STEP group were also on hand to help out.

Tricia Collins, Co-Coordinator for PAKT was on hand to teach everyone about  the benefits of Fair-trade.  Maria Vickers of PAKT said “the days was a great success with lots of parents coming to join in the fun. It’s great to have a fun way of teaching kids about fair trade”.
