Cobh Golf Club Annual Drive-In of the new Captains & President
On Sunday, 13th February, Cobh GC held their annual “Drive-In”, the official Season-Opener for the Club’s 2011 Captain (Frank Jones), President (Noreen Kelly), Lady Captain (Margaret Hurst) and Junior Captain (Gavin Lynch).
Despite a grim weather forecast, the sun shone down on the event, and made sure that the glorious tee-shots of all four were applauded by a delighted crowd. Family members turned up plentiful, to support their new “VIP’s”! The Club is hoping for a great golfing year 2011 with plentiful sunshine!
For the first time in its history, a Captain was elected for the Club’s Juvenile Section, underlining the growing importance that this section has acquired since the new course opened in June 2009. The Club said that the work with its Juvenile members will be further strengthened. Juvenile Officers Tim McCormack and Maire Hughes will be looking after the section in 2011. The membership rates for Juveniles ( 100/year) and Students ( 150/year) are kept at minimum, and everybody interested can phone the Club at (021)4812399 for more information – or better – just drop into the office/Pro Shop on the course and have a chat. The practice times for both boys and girls (from 10 years of age) are on Wednesdays between 2 and 4pm.
