Cobh Hockey Club Notes 31st Jan

Just one game last weekend with Div 6 in the 1st Round of the Cup. In their third meeting this season they took on Dungarvan. With a win and a draw already against Dungarvan this was going to be a tough encounter and this proved correct with Dungarvan fielding a strong team. The visitors opened the scoring after about 15 mins with a well struck ball high into the net. Cobh had some chances from short corners but Dungarvan were fast out of defence. Dungarvan made it 2-0 before the end of the first half from a short corner. The second half saw Cobh throw everything at them to no avail with Dungarvan continuing to be very dangerous on the break and goalie Jessica Stack had to pull off two great saves. Tara Mansworth, in a player of the match performance, made some great runs from defence and Helena Casey made an impact when she came on also.
